Perception towards national health insurance scheme among enrollees of central Terai: a qualitative study

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Out of Pocket Expenditure has always been a primary means financing health care service in Nepal. National Health Insurance Scheme ensures universal coverage by addressing the unregulated out-of-pocket spending and providing quality service.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among enrollees (NHIS) Bharatpur Metropolitan City Chitwan district. Focused Group Discussions were to assess perception towards Scheme. The qualitative data analyzed as thematic analysis technique. </p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Perception categorized perceived care, benefit provider’s behavior. Respondents fully satisfied with premium charge. Availability drugs improved but waiting time process registration lengthy full jargons. Most participants that due less number providers or inability allocating separate provider for ensured persons, consultation very which further affects care. Enrollment Assistants considered source information regarding NHIS.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> Long time, difficulty during remain challenge receive under NHIS. Participants package affordable charge is favor them. Addressing these factors expansion this program other district might leads success scheme.</p><p align="center"> </p>
